Did I hear that right? CNN's Wolf Blitzer (ooh, a linky!) announced in a segway to a chat with Jack Cafferty that Barack Obama and Dick (No Way) Cheney were 9th cousins, once removed. (Update, it's even closer, 8th cousins. Almost family. -Mark)

They can trace their heritage back to a U.S. immigrant a couple of hundred years ago....

Mind you, ninth cousins really means you're not really related at all, especially with the "once removed" qualifier. I probably am related to my wife with less generational floatsam and not even know it.
