Sigh |
Yes, there's a very stupid looking tiger atop my blog now. It doesn't look especially good up there, the colors don't match and it's overall aesthetics are simply awful.
I don't care, I just know that I've got to stop accepting stupid bets. The last time a Steelers fan got me to shave my head, you would have thunk I'd have learned my lesson.
Ara's LSU Tigers kicked the living shit out of the Buckeyes. I just need to know just how long Tony has to stay up there, cuz I forget.
And what the hell do you feed him . . . besides tourists?

SO, So very ON! OSU over LSU |
First of All, it's a Spiney, nut. Buckeyes have sharp, razor-like, er . . . um, rabbit resistant pointy thingies, that can prick your finger, become infected, and hurt real bad.
Other than being shaken to my core upon finding out that Roger Ailes and I grew up in the same city today, my conviction in the dominance of The Ohio State University's football team remains true.
[And please note that when one spells out O.S.U., the pretentious "The" must be included -- lest it be confused with my alma matter, the older and much smaller Ohio University whose charter was signed by Thomas Jefferson -- not Woody Hayes. My Bobcats are perennial losers except for their consistent inclusion on the list of Playboy's 10 best party schools, something OSU only dreams of.]
But I digress. Yes, Ara, I Accept your silly challenge, and raise you this little guy -- who will preside over the E. Pluribus Unum masthead for the week following the BCS championship game on January 7, 2008.

It's ON Now Bitches! |
It's Ohio State vs. LSU in BCS championship
So after taking a 51-day break before playing the Southeastern Conference champion for the national title last season, the Buckeyes will do it again - same break, same conference, different result, they hope. On Jan. 7, in the back yard of the SEC, Ohio State will face LSU in the New Orleans Superdome for the BCS Championship.Losers bitch and moan throughout America.

Yes, The Yankees Still Suck |
Tribe does it! Bring on the Red Sox.
After the last two posts, which mainly concerned me trying to get my head around the different levels of cognitive awareness between liberals and conservatives, and realizing that the primitive brained conservatives have so transformed "normal" politics, changing so much of the language we use to describe policy (See: Orwell, George; and Stewart, Jon) that the "liberal" position is now protecting, defending and conserving our democratic institutions -- it was good to just watch some baseball.
Is it just me? When exactly did they substitute "God Bless America" for "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" during the seventh inning stretch? And who decided to televise the spectacle and crank up the reverb to the point it sounded like an operatic tenor testing the echo in the Grand Canyon?
A better question might be, am I some kind of Muslimonazi loving liberal terrorist sympathizer for even asking the question? And just when did I start hating Kate Smith? (NO, I shall not apologize for my outdated reference. If you have to ask your mom who Kate Smith was, you probably hate baseball anyway you little punk.)

Michigan and Ohio State have played 102 times, but never as No. 1 and No. 2. That kind of matchup, anywhere, has happened just 36 times in 70 years -- usually a marquee nonconference game in September or a bowl in January. In November or December? Between conference rivals? In the history of college football, that has happened just three times, and only in conferences that don't exist anymore -- twice in the Big 8, once in the Southwest Conference. Two such Oklahoma-Nebraska games, in 1971 and 1987, were billed as Game of the Century I and II. And the 1969 meeting between No. 1 Texas and No. 2 Arkansas lured President Nixon away from the Vietnam conflict.
USC (8-1) has threee chances to lose a bid to take the Number Two slot from the LOSERS at Ann Arbor to challenge the NATION'S NUMBER ONE TEAM, OSU.
The Trojans should beat Cal tonight, but if they don't totally humiliate 5th ranked Notre Dame, who's to say they are better than Michigan with an identical record if they also beat UCLA ON Dec. 2? And they could totally choke in one of the three games left.
It was only a three point loss for Michigan on the Buckeyes home field.
How 'bout it Blue? You up for a trip to Arizona?
